New furniture makes an ideal holiday gift for family members in your home, but you cannot exactly hide a new couch in the back of your bedroom closet. If you want to purchase new furniture for loved ones, then you have to get a little creative in the way you plan out furniture gifts.
With some creativity, you can surprise your family during the holidays and give them a gift that will last for years to come.
1. The Mini-Gift Trick
A new piece of furniture will likely be one of the biggest gifts you give this year, but you can present it in a very small package. Once you have picked out your piece of furniture, take a picture of it on your cell phone. Print out a small wallet-sized photo of the image. Then you can place the image inside a small gift bag or a gift card holder.
When the person goes to open the present, they will not expect the gift included inside. Along with the photo, you can include an expected delivery date or more information like a gift receipt to prove you already bought the furniture. The person can then have a lot of excitement and anticipation for when the furniture actually arrives.
2. Giant Bows
If you have the present delivered before the holidays, you could waste a lot of wrapping paper trying to cover the thing up. One way you can decorate the gift is with a giant decorative bow. You can place the bow right in the middle of the furniture.
Have the furniture piece delivered when no one else is home. You can set up the area and then place the bow on to represent the new gift. When the family member arrives home, they will be treated to the big surprise. You can find giant bows in a variety of colors and styles.
3. Clearing Out Space
If you are removing older furniture to make space for the new pieces, then you can turn the empty space into a big holiday surprise. For example, you can put up a small sign that says "Future Present Goes Here", "Reserved For a New Couch" or "Do Not Sit Here Until Dec. 25th." The empty space can build up a lot of suspense about what is coming from the furniture store.
Family members know something will come to the house, but will not know the look or style of the new furniture that is expected to arrive.
4. Photo Edited Living Room
If you have any photo editing skills, then you can present the new furniture digitally before the product is delivered. Once you purchase a piece of furniture, take a picture of the design straight on. Then take a picture of the space in the home where you will place it.
Edit the two photos together to showcase how the furniture will fit into the home and give a fun preview of what's to come. You can send the picture to a family member's device or print out a copy and display it for the holidays. Some apps make the process easier and allow you to capture screenshots of the designs.
5. Santa's Delivery
If you are purchasing furniture for a child, then you can turn the present into a fun experience the child will remember for years to come. If you bring the furniture home in a truck you own or borrow, then you can transform the vehicle into Santa's sleigh. You can add exterior car decorations to make the truck have a Christmas theme and even dress the part as Santa.
A child can watch as the truck pulls up with new furniture options like a bunk bed, child's desk, or a dresser. The fun experience will build a lot of excitement for the holidays and makes the delivery even more special.
